The power of the engine is noticeably increased by the larger carburetor cross-section.
The existing manual choke eliminates the standard electric choke, reducing fuel consumption and significantly improving cold-starting performance.
The following modifications are necessary to fit the carburettor kit while retaining the original air filter box
:
- Original intake manifold: Shorten as described in the enclosed manual
(alternatively the Malossi intake manifold M027528B can be used). - Connecting rubber to the air filter box: also shorten (11mm)
- Air filter box: Drill the holes for the air sleeve and insert the sleeve.
The basic kit fits very well for the 172cc Malossi cylinder with sport exhaust. In case of further modifications, especially to the cylinder head, exhaust as well as the choice of exhaust, a simultaneous adaptation of the carburettor, e.g. by means of one of our jet sets, is an easy way to guarantee both performance and reliability.
We recommend the Malossi or Polini air filter mat. These improve the air supply a little more without reducing the filter performance. For engines with higher air demand we recommend to put more sleeves in the airbox.
(the sleeves break the sound, pure holes would make the airbox very loud).
A diaphragm block with carbon diaphragm plates and rubberized stop surface completes the intake side tuning package.
